Kirk Douglas Theatre, Culver City

I'll admit that I was a bit hesitant to see this production. I wasn't sure about what it was going to be and it definitely could go either way with this theatre. I've had some pretty boring experiences at the 'ol Kirk Douglas....remember the one about the painting of the people in the diner?? UGH!!
This show, however, was amazing. It was a one man show and he told the story of his parents getting a divorce, his mother committing suicide, his dad re-marrying, him finding someone to emulate and look after him who happens to be a rap star, and him having an affair with his father's wife. It all gets pretty messy, but the telling is so wonderful. He jumps around the story to the point where it's a flash-back. He mostly tells it as a rap. It's just amazing. Another article mentioned that this would be perfect for off-Broadway and I totally agree. I would love to see this guy go somewhere.
